Christmas in August

One of the things I love about being a birdchick is reviewing books. I just got a sweet package of books, including one I didn't even know was coming of Roger Tory Peterson's birding adventures. How can I be expected to get any work done this afternoon with this lovely pile of temptation resting upon my desk? Look how thick Pete Dunne is!

I didn't know about the RTP book. Now I know what to put on my Christmas list when I write it!

Is "Pete Dunne" thick, or just his book? ;) Please tell us how you like the shorebird book. I am SO lame on this group.

Nice shearwater head.

I heart the Pete Dunne book. I bought it the day it hit the shelves and I refer to it all the time. His descriptive nicknames really capture the essence of each bird. He calls the piping plover the "sand wraith".

I'm kind of partial to the harlot faced squealer myself in Pete's book.

I think I'm going to try and take the shorebird book for a test drive this weekend and see if once and for all I can pick out pectoral sandpipers on my own.
