More Disturbing Sheep
Hey, remember the post where I linked to the sheep in spandex? Well, I hate to tell you, but there are even more disturbing photos of sheep in spandex--I'm pretty sure these weren't from the Minnesota State Fair.
I think I'm beginning to understand why of all barnyard animals, sheep were made inflatable.
Oh and one other thing about the beer man: as happy as I was this photo turned out, you can't see an important part of the outfit. He's not wearing pants. That's a long green skirt. Really, he was totally wearing a skirt.

I've heard of those tool kilts. They have a schnazzy name that escapes me...
"Snazzy" is not a word that applies to beer guy. Trust me, I was there.
Ha! The name you gave the file was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that pic. Snazzy didn't even register.
However, in art school there was a guy who wore skirts and he WAS snazzy. He had absolutely nothing in common with beer gut, er, guy.
I agree, I have seen men pull skirts/kilts off in a schnazzy way but not here.
I like a nice muscular leg with a sensible amount of hair combined with a skirt.
From the Sheep Production Forum Index:
"...you can hold a lamb's weight down (read starve it) without having it lose a fresh feeling by feeding it Ensure diet shakes. Of course, then you have to muzzle it to keep it from eating the shavings in its pen because it's so hopelessly starved for fiber."
For a number of reasons like this, some states fairs don't allow the muzzling of sheep. The sheep you see at fairs are part of a weird subculture that has very little to do with normal, healthy, well-tended animals, and seeing photos of sheep being treated this way makes me want to puke :~(
Utilikilts! The schnazzy men's skirts are Utilikilts! There was one in front of me at the freezy cider pop stand. It was actually quite nice, sturdy and practical. The guy wearing it helped a bit, too. I'm afraid that ain't no Utilikilt on our beery friend up there.
Thank you, Lemur!
Agreed: Beer Guy doesn't do a manskirt justice. Now, if you go to a Scottish festival... mmm mmm mmm!
I just love your blog. I've been a bird fanatic for years and have been visiting here for a few months, and I just had to finally comment and let you know how much I enjoy reading about your adventures.
And Cinnamon? Oh my - that disapproving bunny is the cutest thing!
I'm not sure about the story behind those poor sheep dressed in spandex, but I'd be outraged if I saw that and would have a hard time not voicing my strong disapproval. Are sheep really displayed like this at some state fairs? I'm shocked!
Great blog! I love the ospreys, the warblers, and all the birds you have captured. You do have the coolest job on the planet. I hope you don't mind, I've placed your web page on my sidebars on my photo blogs.
