Name That Shorebird!
I took The Shorebird Guide out for a test drive. In honor of the review coming within the next few entries I offer this shorebird I took a picture of at 180th Street Marsh in Dakota County. Anyone care to try and id it?Today's prize is a Vortex Lens Pens that can be used to clean binoculars, spotting scopes, glasses and camera lenses:

Semipalmated Plover
Hi Sharon, NBB & rabbit-
Suspecting a clever ruse initiated by the evil rabbit Cinnamon (who obviously does not approve of plovers) I shall wager that it might be a Ringed Plover?!!
Yvonne
What color are those legs?
;-)
I agree with Semipalmated Plover.
Oh Gawd - I am SO LAME on shorebirds. "Some kind of plover/not a Killdeer" is as far as I got without a field guide. With a field guide, I am leaning towards Semipalmated.

Since Semipalmated Plover has already been guessed a couple times & my Stokes book doesn't show them being in Minnesota I'm going to guess the only other one in the book that looks similar: a Killdeer.

It's not a kildeer, they have double bands on the breast area just below the throat, according to my Peterson's Guide.
Can't be a killdeer cause it's only got one *ring*.
Still want to know what color the legs are. And why does the bill look so orange?
The question is, do you know the correct ID of that plover? Damn I gave you a hint! LOL
MH
It is a semipalmated polover, Lynne got it right away.
Email your snail mail address to me and I will put the pen in the mail today.
I tried to post the review and answer last night, but blogger isn't loading photos.
