Signs of Fall
Just got my first sign of fall:
Here's a starling getting its winter spots on its plumage. I also got a phone message from my mother telling me that she and my sister Terri are coming to Duluth in October. Hawk trapping here I come.

That's funny, because just in the last 2 days here in sw michigan, the starlings have been starting to form flocks again -- for me, a sign that fall is coming. Isn't this interesting that we can use birds (in our case, specifically starlings!) to tell the courses of the year!
