Gigantic Disapproving News!

We interrupt the coverage of the Rio Grande Valley Bird Fest for a special announcement.

First, remember the Disapproving Rabbits Shirt idea? You can view the graphic here. The caption will read "Nope. No, sir, I don't approve." and the back will have www.disapprovingrabbits.com on it.

The shirts are brown Hanes Beefy T-shirts and available in mens or womens sizes and will retail for $15 plus shipping and handling. Before I order, I need to get an idea of what people will want. Can you either leave the number of shirts you plan to order in the comments section or email me privately at sharon at birdchick dot com. Please note sizes. I don't want to go crazy Broadway-style when I order but I don't want to run out of shirts for people who are planning to give them as holiday gifts. I plan on placing the order over the coming weekend. I will order some extras.

And since Lynne brought it up as a suggestion in the comments section, I have other very super exciting news. Harper Collins has offered to turn Disapproving Rabbits into a book that hopefully will be out next fall. It will not be just Cinnamon...which she is not happy about:

"What do you mean I'm not the only one in the book?"

I am on a quest to photograph 200 some odd bunnies disapproving of various things over the next few months. What a way to make a living! Who knew this would happen when I started this site? I sure didn't know. I can remember when Non Birding Bill and I were kicking around ideas for this site and I said that I wanted a page of Disapproving Rabbits. He said I was crazy and no one would get it, especially since it was a bird site. I said that I didn't care as long as one person just happened to find it on a lunch break and got a chuckle out of it, that was enough for me. Who knew this would happen.

The poor editor at Harper Collins got an earful when he made the offer. I was so excited and disbelieving I unleashed a huge amount of profanity uncontrollably. Looking back, I'm a tad embarrassed by my lack of decorum, good thing Cinnamon wasn't there. I'm not sure I would have survived that disapproval.

Speaking of disapproving, NBB has added another page of disapproval.

Anyone out there have a gaggle of bunnies for me to photograph?

I can vouch for the profanity... and for Cinnamon's definite disapproval.

I didn't if you wanted to be associated with that onslaught or not. Yes, Amy was witness to my complete and utter freak out and bucket loads of profanity.

If you want to come to michigan to photograph some bunnies -- There is the Michigan Rabbit Rescue (www.michiganrabbitrescue.org). They foster and find homes for bunnies (I adopted one of my rabbits from them. I'm sure they would love to help you out!

Hi, I am planning on ordering 1 XXL large in men's, for myself - I just love the over-sized tees for the writing process. (Unless I can get my hubby to agree to buy me another one, then it will be 2.)

I can't wait for the Disapproving Bunny Book! *claps hands excitedly*

I've seen lots of very friendly bunnies at the Golden Valley Humane Society. They have little rooms to visit with the animals there, so maybe you could take pictures in there.

Golden Valley is a good idea. I will have to go in with the word "no" placed on my forehead with a sharpie. I have such a touch time visiting those places without taking someone home. Cinnamon came from the St. Paul Humane Society. I went in there on a random visit with a friend and instantly connected with her.

Ah, if only her previous owners only knew where she ended up. Her original name was Velveteen but she didn't approve of that so we changed it.

Check with the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society. We have tons of disapproving foster rabbits. Some have upper respiratory infections and they are especially disapproving if they have to get medications regularly. We also have rabbits in Petcos in Roseville, Fridely, Apple Valley, St. Paul, Minnetonka, Richfield, and Maplewood. We give them playtime and could arrange for you to stop by and take pictures during play time. They disapprove of dogs that get too close and humans that ignore them when they are showing off. Sometimes they disapprove of the noisy birds in the store or the occasional parakeet that gets loose and flies around the store teasing all the animals still in cages.

I live pretty much in Golden Valley (just barely in Crystal) so if you want a volunteer bunny herding assistant/help you say no person, I can show up there.
My disapproving little cat came from there 6 years ago. She also disapproved of her Humane Society name... Poor little thing was named Gellar. Who would do such a cruel thing to my baby girl? She's obviously not a Gellar (although some would argue that Lump really isn't a much better name!)
And hooray for bunny shirts! I'll be ordering a men's 2X.

other Sharon: Is that Gellar, as in Sarah Michelle aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer? That would've made her a kick-butt bun!

I am adoring Vito and Red on the new page of disapproval.

I see myself ordering a medium women's shirt, and possibly more once I become the envy of all who are fashionable.

Also I will buy MANY copies of the book when it comes out. Congratulations!

Amy: They didn't say where it was from; if it was that or Ross & Monica Gellar on Friends or the sidekick guy on Regis...
She has no hope of being a kick-butt bun though since she's a cat. But she is a Buffy fan. Here she is with her pal, puppet!Angel : http://www.dreamflyte.com/gallery/Cats/4595_G
When I went to the Humane Society to look at cats I had mentioned to my hubby that they have bunnies too and he said no. Then I asked if I could have a long-eared hopping cat. He said no to that too.

I have a gaggle of bunnies, Birdchick, but they're more of the adorable, snuggly kind.

I'll work on the disapproving angle, as it would be really cool to have a pic in your book. How cool is that?

Are you looking for folks to send you pics - cause I can send a link along to your site on the Pet Bunny list?
