Barred Owls Calling
I recorded this pair of barred owls caterwauling tonight with my digital camera from the deck of Mr. Neil's writing gazebo. It's only about 25 seconds long. It's dark so you can't see the owls, but you sure can hear them!
It was my fault. I had suspected there was one barred owl hanging out behind the gazebo, so, I played the "Barred Owl Female Solicitation Call" from Cornell's Voices of North American Owls on my iPod...powerful stuff.

Love all the great pics. Especially enjoyed the barred owl sounds. The green heron was sweet. I've been getting alot of attention when wearing my rabbit shirt. People really notice it.

We have a pair of Barred Owls living in our apartment complex. They caterwaul every afternoon between 4 and 5:00, which makes me drop everything and run out to the patio to listen. Love those crazy monkey sounds they make!
they sound like they're having so much fun!
