Disapproving Rabbits Sweeping The Nation

A BIG, HUGE thanks to a field contributor to the blog who noted this very cute juggling guy in a very familiar shirt on KCRG.

Double Whoot....and a yarp.

My mom was approached the other day by someone who was admiring her proudly displayed disapproval from afar. Now she knows where she can get some of her very own :)

this is off topic, but can you tell me how many days it takes a mourning dove to hatch from the time the egg is layed? i tried to do a search on mourning dove reproductive cycles, but it didn't say that specific time period.

a mourning dove has made a nest in one of my plants on my patio and has two little eggs in there! i'm anxiously awaiting a hatching. the eggs have been there for about two weeks already.

thanks, Laura

Hi Laura in Florida,

According to the Mourning Dove Chapter on Cornell's Birds of North America Online:

"Incubation begins after second egg is laid...Incubation period 14 d. Eggs constantly covered, with male and female sharing responsibility. Male generally incubates from midmorning until late afternoon, female during remainder of 24-h period."

Enjoy your doves.

I was just gonna comment on your Hot Fuzz reference. I finally saw it last night. Great stuff! I'll have to rent the "Spaced" DVD. Narp?

Oh yay, I'm glad they will hatch soon. The 2nd egg was laid a few days after the first, and that was approx 2 weeks ago, though I'm thinking back and it was more like a week and a half. So they should be here soon!!

That makes me happy that I'll get to see them, since I'm actually moving in 10 days (don't worry, the plant will stay)!!

Thanks! :-D

Huzzah!!!!!
I need to print out some cards to hand to people when I wear my shirt. It takes too long to explain over and over.

Susan gets native - i came up with a great explanation today when wearing my shirt out - the question was "what's a disapproving rabbit" to which i could only respond "any rabbit you encounter"
well... ithought it was a good one anyway! :-0
