My Dream...

Click on this link that showed up on North Michigan Birding's forum page to see what my dreams are like. I must go to this place and have this experience. I especially like how the video is slowed down to get the full effect of the hot goshawk action!

Thanks, Andy!

Cool and spooky at the same time!
Glad I'm not a goshawk snack.

Oh! My! One person's dream is another person's nightmare. I loved the video, but I surely don't want to be there in person.

It is a cool video. I've approached a few Goshawk nests in Michigan and this sums up the experience really well.

The first time my father and I found a Goshawk nest we approached slowly, and the mother hawk was flying around screaming at us. I was in gradeschool at the time and decided to stay back a bit as my dad walked up a dune to get a look at the nest. When he did so, the mama Gos went at him, zipping over his head.

He came back and we exchanged high-fives, and he asked how close the bird was to him before he ducked, guessing that it was 6 or so feet over his head. I told him it was more like 6-12 inches over his cap!

I've heard of guys getting their arms raked and ending up pretty bloody after such an encounter. But, I'd take that risk.

Yeah Steve it is cool but it's important to never linger in an angry gos's territory. Go, but after a brief encounter, GO away! She doesn't want us there and if we respect that gos pairs may use the same nest or territory for many many years.

Man, I would be willing to pay for a chance to even see a Gos. It is my all time number one bird to see. I guess it is simply a matter of luck or knowing where a nest is. that is a way cool video.
