There's a new sheriff in town

All right, everyone, it's NBB here.

Sharon's going to take a few days off from the blog, and she's left me in charge. Mwahahahahahahaha! (thunderclap)

Ahem. Sorry about that.

Sharon's left me some bloggable material, and in addition to that, I think we'll be able to dig out a few rabbits, some bees, general geekery, and maybe just maybe, we'll talk about birding from a non-birder's perspective, or "how I learned to stop worrying and enjoy the brown bird."

All opinions expressed will be my own, not the Birdchick, who will reserve the right to disapprove of anything I post. And probably will (Mwahahah. Sorry.).

We'll get started properly tomorrow, so in the mean time, enjoy this video of a raccoon, who, well, just go ahead and watch.

Hello NBB,

So, your holding down the fort for awhile, eh! It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

I don't know as much about birds as I would like to and could never do what Birdchick does, because I think our feathered friends can tell that they make me nervous and take advantage of my weakness by pecking at me mercilessly.

The raccoon vid made me smile while I sipped my morning cup of tea (think I'll watch it again)

"General Geekery???" Don't you know that Birdchick shows us how to be bird watchers WITHOUT being geeks?

OMG, he stole the rug! I totally thought it was going to be about eating the dog food or something. . .

I like having the guest sheriff in town. As cool as it is when I learn something here (all the time), I always think, how does she KNOW all that stuff??

And thanks for the second giggle !
I can't believe this little bandit stole the carpet (wasn't he supposed to just reck havock in the birding supplies of the BeeMan ?).
Just because he wears a mask, he must think he can get away with it.
Cute critter, though.

RE: General Geekery: you just wait 'til Birdchick comes back and ask HER about geeks. And by inference, what you called her blog readers. She'll tell you.

Oh, goody! I have a ton of questions I have always wanted to ask of NBB. First of all, how did you get the nickname "Non-Birding Bill?" I mean, I know that your name is Bill and that you are not a birder (tho I think you may be slipping over the line a bit by guest-hosting a birder's blog) so that part is obvious, but how did it start? Was it to distinguish you from another Bill who does bird? And if so, why didn't he become "Bill the Birder" and you were just Bill. Did Sharon give you the name or was it somebody else? And, how did you feel when you were first dubbed Non-Birding Bill?

Inquiring minds (and the just plain nosy) want to know.

Loved the Scottish accent on the video. "He's takin' ma caaaapet! Wha de Hell?"
Katdoc is showing her birding slip. We get interested in a subject, then have this overwhelming need to know all there is to know about it.
How's it feel to be gawked at like a bird, NBB?
