Embassy Suites Ducks
Some may remember earlier in the summer that I had a night of revelry at the St. Paul Embassy Suites and was surprised to find that they had ducks in their lobby. Well, some inebriated jerk killed one of them over the weekend. You can read about him here. Boy, doesn't he just sound like the grand prize on the Dating Game?

Ugh, there aren't words to express my sentiments towards that guy.
My friend works at one of the Embassy Suites in Dallas, TX, and they have swans in the lobby. He's always telling the kids to not harass them.
Why would anybody DO that? What a *jerk!
*insert far stronger word here
I really love animals and birds and this is absolutely horrible.....but I also have a bit of a hard time with animals that should be wild being brought into a setting that is not natural. A hotel lobby - give me a break!! If someone has to keep telling people not to harass the birds, then perhaps, the birds shouldn't be there. Do we really think it's 'cute' to see ducks or swans in a hotel lobby pool?
My heart broke when I read this story. I just can't fathom my anyone would do this--even when drunk. I this guy is punished to the fullest extent possible. Will you keep us updated on this case?
How very pathetic and sad. :(
I don't comprehend why people would truly want to hurt an animal in that way.
Me wonders how long he will continue to be working for the Inspector General.
I went to a brunch there a few years ago and it made my morning to see the ducks swimming in the little pools and rivers and ran throughout the lobby...It put me in such a good mood after we ate, as we sat and just watched the ducks. I was so sad about this...I hope he really gets his in jail, or karma!
I don't have the heart to follow the link and read about that. Poor duck.
Well I DID follow the link and read the article and I am thoroughly disgusted.
What I wouldn't give to be the judge in this case!!
What a wacko. He was charged with felony animal cruelty, then released on bond according to a CBS News story.
The Peabody Hotel in Memphis also has ducks. They ride the elevator down from their rooftop home every morning to swim in the fountain in the lounge.
The Delta Queen car wash where I used to live also took care of ducks that lived in their pond and someone there went on a duck killing spree one night.
I don't understand the total lack of respect for life. It's not just a duck, it's a living being. I need to go home now and hug my bunny. :(
I read that story in the paper. The guy sounds like a total wacko. One wonders if his violent nature has come out in other ways in the past. I always think that animal cruelty needs a stiffer punishment, not just because it is awful to see our little animal friends harmed, but also because people who hurt animals often go on to did horrible things to other people as well.
What I don't understand is why no one tried to stop him. The version of the story I read said something to the effect that the security guard and several other people just watched it happen.
That's horrible. I went with a local story earlier this summer when some kids killed a bald eagle "for fun."
Idiots.
Who was it that said, "you can judge your society by the way it treats it's animals", or something to that effect. I don't understand how there are so many people who don't care about the atrocities brought against animals (i.e. the circus). Humans have shown they are clearly not going to be the "survival of the fittest at the end of it all. I'm sure ducks will be there though!

What a tool!! I'd like to see him get just shy of having his head wrenched off, just to see how it feels. Put him in one of those "Saw"-like contraptions.
I can't believe this guy has the job that he has. Just goes to show that just because you've got a nice job, it doesn't make you mature and responsible. His attitude said it all.
I find this story more disturbing than your blog entry of the Cooper's hawk and pigeon. The hawk was acting out of necessity. This guy wasn't.
