We see that the front cover is open pretty wide, but the spine itself is fairly straight. A rigid spine means the pages will be tightly grouped, ruling out being open to one of the interior pages. Putting all those together leads me to believe the feline is reading the frontmatter, which contains multiple views of a gull and eggs of various shapes and colors. So, thats my guess. Nom nom nom. Its a good book too. I liked it anyway.

Hmmm... I think I need to keep that book away from my cats! I swear they spend more time looking at the bird feeders in my yard than I do. :)
