Male Merganser Gets His Mojo On
Here's a video I took though my spotting scope of some hooded mergansers. It starts off on a preening female and then goes to a male preening...and working his cresty mojo. I wish videos looked as good on You Tube as they do before compressed, but you get the idea.

Ooo, he is stylin'!
The little movie clip is amazing! For someone who has never seen the species before (or even knew it existed) moving footage sais so much more than a photograph. The stunning contrast between black and white makes the crest action actually more impressive than the brightest of cockatoos. Thanks so much for sharing it!
What a handsome guy! That crest is impressive. (love the cardinal background music too)
Thanks so much for the video - even with the compression, watching that crest action is really awesome!
Sigh ... that'd work for me. I guess she's very picky. Perhaps I can make some kind of cresty mojo cap for my husband? There's an idea.
