Weather Advisories For April 10
This just cracks me up. Here is the current weather advisory map for today:
My county is in the red zone (Winter Storm Warning). Glad I'm not installing new bees in my hive this week. Hey, for any people in any of these zones, this would be a good time to run out for some mealworms for early nesting bluebirds and chickadees. You might toss some white millet or a finch mix on the ground for migrant sparrows. I saw some tree swallows last weekend, they're going to have a tough time with this too. This is not the first time bad weather hit Minnesota in April, that's one of the risks of returning to breeding grounds in early spring.

Good morning Sharron,
I'm not a birder, I know you from Disapproving Rabbits but I had to write to you.
Yesterday, driving home from work (I work way up in the Northern Canadian wilderness)a hawk flew beside my car window for about 1 mile, just drifting right next to my truck, if I had had my window open and my arm out, I could have plucked a tail feather (not that I would have, i'm not that kind of person) but it dawned on me that this was the coolest thing that ever happened to me and I dont even know what kind of hawk it was :O( I said to myself, Birdchick would know.
Have a great day
Danielle
So the early bird doesn't get the worm, they get stuck with snow? I knew I should start sleeping in more!
I suppose it wouldn't be very nice to mention that it's supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny for the next week here, huh?
My sincere condolences to you and the birds. That's one of the main reasons I no longer live in the Midwest. Although, I wish I were there now to put out some food for our fine feathered friends.
Hey Sharon, You did not get your weather map far enough North and West. It is nasty in Fargo Too. I'll bet Cinnamon really disapproves of this weather too. :)
Here in Central Illinois it's going to be cold again until the middle of next week. I am so upset - we just had 2 pairs of easter bluebirds move in after 5 years of waiting - and I'm afraid they'll move on when it gets cold outside :(
