When Non Birding Bill and I do holiday cards, we usually take one of my photos and he doctors them up. I sent him a few and the above was one of our finalists. Just cracks me up the way the hat sits jauntily on the crest.

Eeee one of my favorite birds WITH A SANTA HAT. Yes yes, titmice are common elsewhere, but in Montreal, they're SPECIAL. We had one at the feeder this year and I was so excited!

So, after you catch the birds and band them, you put hats on them, too? How do you get them to stay on - hatpins?
