Where's The North American Field Guide For iPod & iPod Touch
Yo, field guide authors! Yeah, I'm talking to you, Sibley. And get out from under that table, Kaufman. Yo, you too, Jon Dunn, aka Mr. National Geographic Field Guide...why aren't any of your field guides in a software format for an iTouch and an iPhone?? Huh?
I just got the BirdGuides Catalog in my email inbox this morning and there are British versions of this. Heck, there's even a video field guide. Embrace the technology, boys. Give the birders what they want: a field guide on an iPhone or iTouch--or even one of those new Google Phones.

I agree birdchick...I would be be interested and i am sure many others would be.
iBird Explorer Backyard is a start. Under Reference at the App Store. When they release the full NA version this could be good.
Fiona from BirdGuides here. We'd be delighted to produce a US version, we just need a partner who could supply the assets (Sibley are you out there)? If anyone wants to discuss please get in touch: fiona at birdguides dot com .
The possibilities with the iPhone are endless. I'd be curious to know what everyone would like to see...
How great would an app like Shazaam be for Bird calls??
AJ you are a gee-nius!
Amen, sister!
And how about an eBird app for iPhone, while we're wishing...
I've tried doing my own with my 5G iPod. Download a pile of pictures and sort them/put a name right in the photo and throw them on. Didn't actually have a need for them on the boat that day, so can't say how well it worked as a reference.
I also tried converting a few articles from Birding from pdf to jpg and loading them. Not quite readable on the 5G, but I wouldn't be surprised if they would be on a touch.
Thanks for urging them on, Sharon!
