I Swear More Blogging

Check it out, it's an upside downy woodpecker! Har har, I slay myself.

I have time to digiscope, but I gotta tell ya' it's hard on those digisocping batteries! It's currently -7 (Fahrenheit) and I'm lucky if I can get one full minute out of my camera batteries--and that's keeping hand warmers around my batteries and camera.

I'm focusing my Chi and getting excited for my trip to Florida next week--which I plan to bird the crap out of to make up this week. Space Coast is now the largest bird festival in the country and word is that over 4000 people are expected to show up in Titusville for the event. Not bad for a bird festival in this economy!

If you have any bird requests for digiscoping, let me know and I'll try and get a photo of it in the blog.

How about an Emu?

If you can't digiscope one of those while in Florida, how about a Roseatte Spoonbill, Wood Stork or Groove-billed Ani (not sure how far the Ani range extends...). Then again, you might be too far north in Florida to get any of those.

Hmmm...

I always love seeing Reddish Egrets. You should try to get one doing its fishing dance.

I was so pleased to see a Northern Oriole (a lifer for me) and a red-bellied woodpecker when my family and I visited Bok Tower in Lake Wales, FL this winter break. You will have a wonderful time down here, although a little chillier than you probably were hoping for, it's a lot warmer than Minnesota.

P. Ollig, we have a wonderful Roseate Spoonbill that lives by my parents and the Wood Storks (or wood dorks as my 14-year old calls them) are everywhere.

Enjoy our beautiful state, Sharon!

P. Ollig -

Emu! Why not just ask for an ivory-billed woodpecker?

I will shoot for spoonbills and certainly for anis and painted buntings (both of thse would be lifers for me).
