A Rio Grande Valley specialty and all around fabulous bird--the green jay!

A Rio Grande Valley specialty and all around fabulous bird--the green jay!

Would you like to go birding in the Rio Grande Valley? Would you like to make that birding into a party with me and Greg Miller (the dude portrayed by Jack Black in The Big Year movie)? Then check out this fall tour I'll be on to the Rio Grande Valley!

This is a relaxed trip where we will see fall migrants as well as valley specialties all while learning a thing or two about digiscoping and having a great time. We will visit some of my favorite Texas hot spots like Estero Llano Grande, Laguna Atascosa NWR and South Padre Island. We'll get our fill of great species like great kiskadee, plain chachalaca, buff-bellied hummingbirds, aplomado falcons, zone-tailed hawk, green jays, black-bellied whistling ducks...and that's just scratching the surface of the birding potential. But to get an idea of how exciting the birding is in the valley, check out this video I made for the Rio Grande Valley Bird Festival...the same applies to this tour:
