Hilton Pond has great photos and puts out my favorite e-newlsetter. Browse their archives and learn lots. The photos are so clear and up close, you feel that your are holding the bird in your hand. Occasionally when the birding is slow they do articles on strange mammals and insects.
E-bird lets you categorize your birds online.
The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center: if you've found a sick or injured bird or animal in the Twin Cities, this is the place to take it. Their skilled staff knows how to take care of them!
The Raptor Center: The world-famous center for studying and treating birds of prey. If you've found an injured raptor, or want to learn more while seeing them up close, this is the place to go.
The Minnesota Ornithologists' Union is the state's premier birding club. Check out the great information on their home page.
Surf Birds is a handy collection of birding news and galleries.
Authors
Sharon has a lot of friends who are writers, both of books about birds, and the other kind! Check out their websites.
Kenn Kaufman is the author of several field guides, including some that aren't about birds. Sharon forgives him.
Nature Smart is the website of Stan Tekiela, author of over 40 regional field guides, and several bird sounds CDs.
If you stacked all the books that Paul Johnsgard has written on top of each other, they'd be taller than Sharon! Granted, Sharon's pretty short, but still...
Neil Gaiman is the New York Times-bestselling author of such books as American Gods and Coraline. He doesn't write field guides, but we like him anyway.
Music
Sharon's good friend Lorraine Garland has teamed up with Malena Teves to form Lorraine-a-Malena. Their first CD, Mirror, Mirror, is availble now.
And you've probably heard about The Mouse Incident. Unfortunately, it looks like the links are no longer available. If this changes, we'll be sure to update the page.
