Poor Cinnabunny is not feeling well tonight. Her stomach is growling very loudly. She has turned her nose up at baby carrots–that was a concern. But she did eat some parsley, broccoli, half a strawberry, a little hay and a nutriberry–that’s a good sign. I remember long ago early in our marriage (when we just had a mattress on the floor, no bed frame–the bohemian days) and we used to let our pet rabbits roam around at night unsupervised. I woke up to a strange sound. I looked over and on the floor next to the mattress was Hazel–her stomach was growling. She was fine but I just remember how surprisingly loud it was.
I woke up another night to a strange noise and discovered Hazel eating my hair and that put an end to unsupervised bunny outings.
Though spending the night mostly loafing and urging me to pet her, she did find time to chew up my Northwoods Limited catalogue. I can’t imagine why she doesn’t like it.

Aww, poor baby! If she doesn’t get better soon, try syringing thru the side of her mouth a bit of pediatric simethicone. That always helps mine with gas!
xx
Also, tummy massage can help too. One time I was told to try using a “massager” (nudge nudge, wink wink) on my bunny’s belly and my reward for trying to soothe his tummy was him wetting my lap. Not sure if that was a good sign or a bad sign. : ) If the gas doesn’t seem to pass make sure to bring her to the vet asap to make sure she isn’t obstructed. Hope Cinnamon feels better soon.
A Happy New Year, Sharon!
Yeesh, I don’t know about a massager for Cinnamon!
Thanks for all the tips, she is doing much better this morning. Even last night she was showing signs of improvement–we took her for a late night run in the hallway and she did a couple of really fast laps.
This morning she is eating anything she can find.
I’ll keep the simethicone in mind.
Try to avoid feeding her broccoli. Broccoli can give bunnies gas. My bun gets gas when he is stressed out or anxious about something. We usually just give him a little simethicone and pet him and reassure him and then he gets better. Just make sure she’s eating and pooping. As long as stuff is going in and coming out, she is fine.
and to continue megj’s thought…
my friend told me i should name one of my bunnies (i have 4 – ugh) Manny… as in Manny poops a lot!!!
happy new year to you all! thanks sharon for teaching me so much about birds and rabbits and making blogging fun! and to all the people i’ve met here and have become a part of bilbo’s world (links and posts)
i was letting bilbo roam and night and have found her to be quite a voracious reader – her current favorite book seems to have been Today Matters by John Maxwell – hardcover – the paper cover is destroyed and the binding is a shambles but the pages remain intact. she apparently approves of John Maxwell. but she’s also not allowed to roam at night anymore… i really AM going to miss her hopping into bed with me and my 2 dogs at 3 in the morning!
blessings on the new year – may it be EVEN BETTER than 2006 was
