very nice article and you’ve ruined me – was out walking my dogs last early eve and saw some really cool sparrows i’d never seen before, blue heads and reddish on the cheeks – gonna have to look them up – never used to really notice birds at all…
so i guess your master plan is working – proving you can be a birder w/o being a geek – i’m no birder but am finding it fun!

i read your blog all the time and i am merely an backyard birdwatcher. the whole time i had him in my hand i just kept thinking about all the photos on your blog and how the birds are usually held by the feet. i was so wishing that i knew more!!
