Really nice blog. And great pictures too. Brings back lots of memories. Got my first ross equipment in about '70. I'm older than dirt. Still love the little cirtters.

My reasoning was that it would be easier to deal with than extracting...in the end, it's just as messy. That was my idea too.. haha guess not.

they do look neat, maybe next year. Someone mentioned to me that in going the comb honey route, there's more of a chance of swarming, so I thought the first year would be better to negate the possibility of this. I think I need to research some more!

I also heard that RR are easier to deal with than Bee-O-Pac.

Maybe I'll just give cut comb a shot this year !

thanks for the response, I love your blog :)

Of the two types of comb honey kits I tried, I liked the Ross Rounds the best. It was recommended that the first year isn't the best for starting comb honey, but this was our first year and we did it and got several rounds out of it. My reasoning was that it would be easier to deal with than extracting...in the end, it's just as messy.

hi ... I was searching for people who'd used Ross Rounds and your blog came up in a google. So I gather you're happy with the product? it does look pretty neat!

if you get a chance, pls respond, I'd love to know your opinion.

I'm one of those overreaching first year beekeepers (haha my bees arent even here yet) but my husband's been hinting that he has no idea what to get me as an anniversary gift :)

thanks!

What will next summer be like when we have two hives in full honey production? Yikes!
CBLDF fundraising honey, of course.

;-)

Ohhh...honey....yum.
I don't suppose a little jar of that would fit in your luggage and accompany you to Cape May and make its way onto our toast in the morning?

I live in Minneapolis as well, which makes it that more interesting.

On the subject of honey, I was at the mpls. farmers market(last friday) and the Ames Farm honey is there selling single source honey. Of course I stopped to look, talk and sample, mostly because my new found knowledge reading your blog. Amazing different flavors, buckwheat honey, wildflower honey, basswood(linden) honey which I bought. Do go see them, they also have a web site, amesfarm.com. Thanks again, keep the info coming.
