Oh, lovely photo of the Cardinal! I miss those birds!

I had a couple of bird questions for you (if you don't mind!)

-is there such a thing as a squirrel proof and mouse proof bird feeder?

-I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I keep seeing a little bird that looks very similar to the tufted titmouse, but they don't appear to be common in my area. It's the same dark charcoal grey coloring, with the little mohawk feather do. It's looks to be about the same size as the one in the photo. Any ideas what type of bird I may be looking at? (Currently we exclaim, oh look! The punk rock bird is back!)

I love that you bring such education to the web regarding birds! Thank you! :)

These photos are so wonderful. I do not think I have ever seen a young cardinal, or even a photo of one. Thanks especially for that. Of course now I am craving cherries. :sigh:

I'm in awe of these photos. It has occurred to me I've never actually see an cherry tree; with cherries; let alone some gorgeous birds to boot! Thank you so much for these lovely shots.

We have 2 serviceberry trees (Amelanchier) on our property and enjoy watching all kinds of feathered friends fill up on them. You can check out my account of one day spent watching this here at my blog http://birdbrainsanddogtales.wordpress.com/2009/06/22/the-longest-day-of-the-year/ . Our resident chipmunks also enjoy the berries, but I haven't been able to catch them in the act via video or photo.

We also have cherry trees, high bush bluberry, and many viburnum species that also provide berries for the birds and critters. Even though we could harvest them for ourselves we don't since we put them in just for the birds and other qualities like Fall color. We also have plenty of wild fruit around our home too, such as raspberry and grape.

I love watching birds feeding naturally in the summer.

This cherry tree appears to be a bird magnet. If only we had room in our small yard to plant one.
Curiously I've never seen a tufted Titmouse in Hudson. Although we're only about 20-25 miles East of the Twin Cities.
Oh how I'd like to be able to watch them at our feeder.
