Wisconsin Kirtland’s Warbler Video

Posted by Birdchick on July - 30 - 2009

Hey, this is pretty cool, the first video footage released of Kirtland’s warblers in Wisconsin! The video was put together by Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin. The Kirtland’s is endangered and was only found in a small area of Michigan’s jack pine forests, but about three years ago, a pair of Kirtland’s nested in an undisclosed location in Wisconsin. The area is kept quiet so the fragile bird population can increase without disturbance but here’s a peak into the success story of an endangered bird increasing in number (nice to get some good news).

    Cool! Jack Pine’s a fire-dependent species, I think?
