No one is 100% why woodcocks move this way when foraging, the guess is that it is causing worms to move in the soil, making it easier for the woodcock to find them.
If that’s snow I’m seeing in the vid, all the fancy dancing in the world isn’t going to bring worms up – at least until the frost leaves the ground. Maybe they’ve got just got a case of Happy Feet.
Haha..that is wonderful. If I every see something like that in person I will probably start laughing so hard remembering the accompanying soundtrack I’ll scare off the bird.
