Hi Craig,

Never feel bad for a photo heavy blog. Some people like blogs with lots of text, other's don't. I Myself tend to go for blogs with more photos than text. I love yours (even if I don't comment).

Neat post. Like the "Fame" reference, and the photo that went with it. And yeah, he does look like Hannibal with that cigar.

I'd known that Snipes were real birds, but I thought they weren't found in North America.

And I'm glad that I've found a blog that's even more photo-heavy than mine; I don't feel so bad.

Yet another adventure I missed when I had to leave the MBS to dash home for work.

Note to self: NEVER let earning a living take precedence over birding.

I would love to attend a shorebird banding session. It looks like much fun, not to mention potentially muddy!

Ooo, I love bird in the hand photos. I'm horrible at judging size and always think birds are mammoth when they are in fact wee. That snipe is so pretty and it's eyes are huge! That bill action, especially the worm pulling, is quite interesting. Reminds me of a jewelry saw blade.

Thanks for pointing out those webbed feet, I always wondered what semipalmated meant. There is nothing more annoying then when the feature a bird is named for is in fact not easily, if ever, able to be viewed in the field.

Although once, I did get to see a eastern kingbird's red forehead patch and was completely shocked. I had never known it had one, so I guess having interesting features in the name as least lets you know it's there, even if you don't ever see it.
