Great idea for a get-together! Kenn Kaufman gave an interesting talk at the Space Coast birding festival this weekend on the image problem birders have suffered--the (utterly wrong) idea that we are humorless and uncool. Putting birds and beer together could be a great way to help reverse this!

Love the full moon crow pic. Beautiful. I've been reading lots of crow books lately. They are such amazing creatures. Glad it was a great B&B outing. Hoping I can make it to the next one. -J.J.

Looks like fun, I would hang onto the first and last pics from that post for next Haloween season - very eerie/cool looking! Things you miss after moving away from MN, upscale restaurants featuring mashed potatos!

Yesterday afternoon (nowhere NEAR to going to roost time), there was a large (150 , maybe more) flock of crows circling tightly together over an area that covered about three yards, mine and the two houses to the west. They were cawing like mad, and staying together. It was the kind of noise that I'd associate with them mobbing a hawk, but there was no hawk, nor any other easily visible predator. They'd circle as a group, one or two would have to catch up, and they kept it up for quite a while. I've not seen this kind of behavior before and wondered if you could give me any insight. I'm in Northern California and the weather was sunny and mild.
Thanks.

Congrats on the great turnout! Those are some rockin' photos.

So...there's a bar in the Cities that serves good food and has a mashed potato bar? Definitely something to put on our list of places to go when I'm up visiting my brother the next time.
