This is a random photo I got an American Tree Sparrow on Friday.

I wonder how much longer I will see these guys and how soon they will be replace by incoming field sparrows?

Heh– I love how they puff up when they’re cold. Little bird-balls.
I think my favorite thing about your blog is that it makes me take more notice of sparrows. Haven’t seen this guy yet, but I’ve seen chipping sparrows and song sparrows around here in addition to the house sparrows I’d normally expect. Hooray for brown birds.
Oh, Jess, I haven’t seen the chipping sparrows yet, we should get them soon. Nice to know you have ‘em!
These are so beautiful. Brown birds are exquisite in their understated elegance. Have a lovely weekend!
Oh, eek, I’ve misled you. No chipping sparrows yet this year. Just, you know, generally, they’ve been here before. :/ Keeping my eyes peeled, though!
I saw the first tree-sparrow of the season today. I’m in SW PA. It’s good to hear them singing again.
