Cinnamon

I regret to inform those who knew her, but today was Cinnamon’s last day. I disapprove.

How do yo say goodbye to a creature who shared a hotel room with me when I got stranded in a blizzard in Nebraska?  A rabbit who helped launch my freelance career?  A rabbit who brought me over a decade of laughter on a daily basis?

If you have a pet hug them tight.  I know many people have enjoyed Disapproving Rabbits and at this point, I don’t know where it’s going to go.  If you feel compelled to do anything, please donate to your local animal shelter or rabbit society.  Had it not been for someone dropping off this delightful ball of velvety fur to the St Paul Humane Society all those years ago, life would have been a bit more boring for us.

Here’s one of my favorite memories of her:

  • Sharon & Bill, I am so very sorry for you loss. Our pets become such a part of us and losing them is like losing an arm. I hope you have a peaceful week basking in the memories of Cinnamon.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve had several rabbits over the years…they are wonderful creatures! Your video isn’t working for me, something about EMI and the U.S.

  • EMI my foot. Cinnamon bit the cord!

    She was a dandy!

  • Joanna

Thank you for sharing Cinnamon with all of us. I have truly appreciated your tales of enjoying life with a rabbit as well as Cinnamon’s lovely presence itself. My sincere condolences to both of you.

  • I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to loose our family members that provide such unconditional love. Thank you for sharing Cinnamon with us!

oh dear, sharon, i’m so sorry for your loss. i also disapprove. :(

  • So sorry for your loss, she seemed like an amazing bunny. Be consoled in the thought that you made her life wonderful for taking her in from the shelter. She couldn’t have asked for a better family.

I was saddened to read this and hear of your loss … Thank you for sharing your Cinnamon with all of us. I live in a place that doesn’t allow pets & long for my own disapprover your site has offered many a smile.

  • So sorry to hear about Cinnamon. I totally get how you can become attached to a rabbit. I had a rabbit named Dennis, who was rescued from a place where they were raising rabbits to eat. He was the most unflappable animal and completely at ease with my three dogs. His favorite special treats were little pieces of banana and mini wheats cereal. He lived to the ripe old age of seven, and only chewed about ten wires or so…
Cinnamon was so beautiful, and so aptly named. How lucky you are that she shared your life.

  • So sorry for your loss. Cinnamon made me smile many a day, as I’m sure she did you too. That’s a good life. :)

  • Mel

I’m so sorry to hear. Cinnamon was adorable and the best disapprover there ever was.

Do you know that every time I open a can of pumpkin (to make pie or soup or whatever), I think of Cinnamon? I’m glad we got to share her adventures. And her disapproval! :D

  • Michelle

Thanks to you for sharing her with us. I also think of her everytime I open a can of pumpkin.

  • If not for my daughter Molly falling in love with Cinnamon at the Wild Bird Store years ago, she wouldn’t have wanted to adopt her own bunny and we wouldn’t have brought our Buddy home here. Buddy also brought lots of love and laughter to our home and family. So, thank you Sharon, and God bless Cinnamon.

So sorry for your loss. We’ll miss hearing about Cinnamon.

  • Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. It’s nice to know there are people out there who understand and won’t think, “Jeez, it’s just a rabbit, get over it.”

We all have special pets in our lives and it’s hard when they leave us. Thank you so, so much for the thoughts. They really did help a lot today.

  • nikkikoval

    Sorry honey, LOL, mom

  • Oh, Mom, I do love your interpretation of text lingo. It gave me a much needed guffaw today. I love you so.

  • Jen8

I’m so sorry to hear it–when it comes to pets, we humans do as right as we can for as long as we can, and it’s always so sad when they leave us. You’re in my thoughts. I’ll don my DR shirt in tribute.

  • Andy

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. Time for some therapeutic birding time at a favorite quiet patch. Thanks for sharing Cinnamon with us for all the years.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Many buns are disapproving of this. Thank you for sharing Cinnamon with everyone. I know she would disapprove, but she put a smile on my face at every tale you shared.

  • Dear Sharon and Bill,

I am saddened by your loss. Cinnamon truly brought joy to so many people through your posts of her, and she was clearly an extraordinarily special rabbit. I can only imagine how much you miss her already, and am so sorry for your loss.

    Namaste~

  • I sez to Mabel, I sez, “This is sad news, and I hope the lovely lady and her husband take comfort in knowing that Cinnamon really did approve of all they did for her because they gave her a happy, healthy life and all of that canned pumpkin.” That’s what I sez to Mabel.

  • Sharon and Bill, Dian, Sunnybird and I send our most sincere condolences.

  • Kit

I am so sorry to hear that Cinnamon passed away. She was quite the rabbit and has brought joy to so many people. I have no doubt that she is already planning away to come back to you and your husband as soon as possible.
***Lots of hugs and kisses* with sadness and joy because soon I have no doubt she will be back in this world. Her spirit is just to strong not to want to have left it forever.

  • anonymous

    My condolences on your loss.

  • Heidicrafts

Our condolences to you, Bill and Sharon, and to the whole Cinnamon community.

We were so honored that Bill brought Cinnamon by to meet us when we came as fans to the museum, visiting from Iowa clad in brown DR shirts.

Cinnamon’s example led us to raise our own standards, too.

My young lass says, “Fluffy bunnies don’t deserve to die.” [sniffle, sniffle.]

  • Jenn

She touched the world. So sorry to hear of your loss.
