Random Northern Harrier

Some forgotten photos from my May trip to Utah.  This was a male northern harrier hunting around Antelope Island:

One of the few North American raptors you can tell the difference between male and female by color.

 

He even got some prey!

  • Super cool action shots of this beautiful raptor. I would love to get it for my year list in Costa Rica but they became pretty rare winter visitors ever since the extensive marshes around San Jose were drained decades ago.

  • I’ve only seen a Harrier once. It was flying over a lake right next to me. :)
