Birders humorless? No! Out of frustration I once posted on MN Bird listserve that I’d seen a Passenger Pigeon. I got an email a day later where in all seriousness I was informed that this bird was extinct.

  • That’s now going to be my response to every bird I see you report on Twitter.

    Yo, Shazzle (and Nozzle-Bizzle Bizzle),

“Shizzle” means “Sure.” The expression “Fo’ shizzle, my nizzle” properly translates as “For sure, my n[egro].” There was evidently a court case in the UK a number of years ago in which a judge was trying to determine whether “Fo’ shizzle my nizzle” was offensive; evidently someone got the idea that nizzle-shizzling was a sex act or some such, perhaps by analogy to Flo’s “Kiss my grits,” when in fact the expression means nothing more than an emphatic “yes.”

The word *you* had in mind was, indeed, “shiznit.” Fo’ shizzle.
