Birdchick After Dark: Great Blue Herons

So…while playing around with the ATX in Florida, Non Birding Bill and I had a crazy spectacular thing happen.  We were both filming herons.  He was using his HD camera, I was using my ATX and Nikon V1.  We both were on the same heron. I wanted to do some comparison shots to see which was clearer, my set up or his camera…and then a male flew into the nest and we got…well we got some heron porn.

The best part was that when he landed, both NBB and I froze, knowing our cameras were running and we were getting the Full Monty and after he flew off, we turned and high fived each other.  His footage was good…but in mine, you could see the actual cloaca. We both watch my footage and NBB looked at me and said, “That’s almost too dirty to show.”

Anyway, in case I haven’t said it enough, I LOVE my new digiscoping set up.
